<p>Many do not believe in email marketing.  It’s hard not to blame those disbelievers because people’s email inboxes are being bombarded with “spams” and unwanted advertising on a constant daily basis.  People are opting out of emails more each day because they do not want to be annoyed by junk or scam offerings.  However, email marketing is still effective if one can do it properly and is an incredibly important channel for most businesses.</p>

<li>According to Direct Marketing Association, $57.25 was generated for every $1 spent on email marketing in 2005, outperforming all other types of direct marketing.</li>
<li>A more recent benchmark report from <a href="http://www.epsilon.com/">Epsilon</a> titled “<a href="http://bit.ly/U6UfOt">Q2 2012 Email Trends &amp; Benchmark Report</a>” indicated that email open rates have increased 3.6% since Q4 2009. People are still opting-in to receive emails and clicking ads that are relevant to their interest.</li>

<li><strong>Provide a real value offer ad and not a “hook ad”</strong>.  These days, a majority of people are more conscious about the difference between value deals versus a scam.  Don’t bait them because they will run away.</li>
<li><strong>Be concise and to the point and avoid heavy content.</strong>  People don’t like to read too much, they have other emails to go through.  Limit the amount of space to keep your subscriber’s attention.</li>
<li><strong>Create an appealing and simple layout design.  </strong>Use relevant and attractive visual images to catch the eyes but be careful of over designing or the email layout will be too busy to highlight the importance of the message.</li>
<li><strong>Indicate a clear and appealing headline/subject line.  </strong>A good headline does matter because it will grab the reader’s attention according to their interests.<strong></strong></li>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is difficult to start a new business or to operate one on your own, let alone learn how to market it.  We have witnessed many clients finding themselves overwhelmed in the marketing role and feeling very discouraged with the unsuccessful efforts that they have spent in the past.  Often times, the disappointment can leave a sour taste for many small business owners personally, mentally, and financially.<span id="more-3047"></span></p>
<p>After reviewing several of our B2C clients marketing efforts, the key observation that we noticed from those “unsuccessful attempts” was due to <strong>the lack of a strong marketing plan</strong>.  Many owners considered marketing as an expense rather than an investment.  If they elect to spend money on marketing, they prefer a plan that is simple, quick, affordable, and produce fast cash return.  Some of the past efforts include placing an ad online, in a local newspaper, running a coupon deal or a direct mail piece.  The result was a quick but temporary stream of customers coming through the door.</p>
<p>The truth is marketing is an investment expenditure.  It plays a vital role in generating awareness to prospective consumers and clients, developing demands, converting prospects into customers, and building strong brands.  The effort should not be a temporary stream of customers but rather an ongoing effort to build relationships and turn new customers into loyal and repeat ones.  In addition, marketing influences a company’s sales, pricing, promotions, and advertising strategies.  If a business understands the importance and role marketing plays in growing a business, then perhaps they would consider investing in a comprehensive marketing plan.</p>
